I feel knitty

Omg, how cute are these mittens?

Love the embroidery.

I've spent most of today reworking the template for the blog, so engrossed in it that I haven't had any lunch yet. It's nearly tea-time, it's a miracle! Normally my stomach is constantly telling me too eat, today it obviously had vested interest in my editing the css pages.

Ah well beats packing my stuff in to boxes! Soon I will be next to the sea again :)

I don't think...

...I can call this a cowl any more. It's more like a short poncho; in which case I wish I'd had enough wool to make it longer! But any hoo it's finished and I love it! It can keep me cosy on Saturdays while I watch X-Factor and on Sundays as I snuggle up with a good book.

No one can even begin to imagine how excited I am that I've finished, even if I did have to re-plan after a snappy 'run out of things to knit with'. I hope you all like it too!

xoxo

I completely forgot about Ysolda's patterns (how, I don't know!), but I've just gone back to using an old web browser and I came across these, stashed away in my favourites. Any way you can buy them at the link above and there are some sweet free ones to have a go at. My knitting is currently on hold...I've run out of yarn. How do I always seem to manage this? I must be terrible at gauging how much I will need. Ah well, my big, snuggly cowl will have to wait.

Everyone seems to be saying they're ready for Autumn, but I'm ready for Winter! Bring on the hot cocoa and mittens...

Merpocket

I felt mermaidy when I woke up this morning so I whipped this hair clip into existance in a few minutes. I think it looks cute with my braids <3

I'm off to help pick a wedding dress for my friend. Yey! Don't you just love it when you can fill your day with pretty things.

PS. I didn't get the job :( Momentary lapse in my day of happiness!

Post illness blogging feels sooo good :)

I'm back, did you miss me? While I await a phone call that will announce my employed/ unemployed status, here are some things that are stealing my attention...

1. This braid is so simple yet it oozes potential for... yep, you guessed it! Head bands! It's so pretty; I really want to get a little jewel to dangle at the centre of the forehead so it looks all princessey.

2. Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap

3.Polyvore! I discovered this through Clair, who is just wonderful!

I love the tunic. It feeds my latest obsession...umbrellas <3

I'm working on a huge midnight blue cowl that will keep me warm in the winter evenings. Oooo cosy :D

I've got the lergy :(

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days, i've been in bed with a really bad cold and chest infection  :(  Of course with the Swine flu going around i've been given Tamiflu...you know, just in case. So basically this is me for the next few days as I can't leave the flat.  Does anyone know of any cool little knitting patterns I can work on? Nothing too straining please *cough cough*

Oooo and I so want a suitcase like this one...

love these as well...

xoxo

PS i finally have some circular needles :)

<3

My cowl is finished! Love love love

Oh Etsy...once again you please me so <3

I wasn't going to post again but I wanted to share the sweetest thing. Etsy's brought me whimsical childhood memories of my desperate desire to be a gymnast. Remember those cool swirling ribbons they used for the floor work?... I do!

Made by Syrendell.

I feel very swirly.

The ice cowl cometh...

Yey, Mr is home and my cowl is coming along nicely! It's currently about 40cm long and i'm knitting on straight sticks...yet again another project that requires a circular needle. Why are all the fun things to knit circular?! Suggestions for flat knitting projects are being taken below.

Oh my goodness I can not wait to finish the cowl and sew some vintage buttons on. I'm looking forward to spending an entire day picking through my vast collection and selecting the very sweetest ones.

The books in the background of the last photo are two that I'm currently reading and one that I carry every where with me.

1. I Am A Cat by Soseki Natsume- A series of stories written from the perspective of a cat...it's Japanese, okay!

2. Half A Yellow Sun by Chimanda Ngozi Adichie- Can't finish reading it as I know that one of the characters I love is going to end up dying or something equally as awful. I just can't bring myself to pick up the last chapter. I don't want it to end.

3. The Writers Yearbook- Ah my love, my friend! Was gutted when I split hot chocolate over it a few weeks back :(

Stay happy, my little bunny rabbits.

xoxo

P.S I'm completely smitten with the photo of the balls of yarn...

Attempting an art journal!

I can already tell this is going to be fun <3

My supplies are minimal so I'm having to work really hard to be creative! Could really use my old school pencil case right now, all those coloured pens and pencils...all that tippex that I covered the lid with...all that doodling :)
Time for lunch!

A friend, a baby, the slouch and an artist

Yey! My old house mate and very good friend Hayley has joined the blogging community in a quest to reignite creativity and begin her art journalling and scrapbooking project. Love her so much. We've been through a lot together; ups, downs and all the things that could possibly come inbetween. Will be seeing her next week. Can't wait! Find her at redrosehouse. Please welcome her :)

And some fab news to announce. My Mr's sister in-law gave birth to a lovely baby girl early this morning. I'm an aunty...sort of. Ah don't take the excitement away from me :)

On another note, my slouchy hat pattern...although I thought it was perfected...is definitely not. Almost there, but not quite. Arrrrrgh.

I'm also completely in desire for drawing skills like artist Yoko Furusho. She's a great source of inspiration for me...see below and be in awe.

Wonderful :D

Good evening Mr. Moon

The moon is bright tonight and I'm excited as i've finally perfected my knitting pattern for a slouchy hat. Yes, finally! It's been perplexing me for ages but it's done and ready for mass production, or at least me knitting until I get fed up of it. Feeling happier today, although I was in dreamland until 1pm...I know I know. Lazy girl! I did spend the afternoon reading art magazines and found some great artists who've really inspired me: I promise I will blog about them soon once I know a tad more. Oooo I feel really arty at the moment. Next week I'm meeting up with some friends from uni! So excited I just can't contain myself and I keep finding myself dancing uncontrollably around the living room...of course that may just be the cheesy pop music I've been blasting while my Mr isn't around to complain about it. :D

The beginning of a wishlist

1. Circular needles (my hat, below, has an awful seam running up the back of it)

Sorry the pictures a bit crap, it's quite late and there's only an energy saving light bulb to provide illumination. The hat is actually lilac and as all my friends already know it is my most detested colour after I lived for 5 of my teenage years in a completely lilac bedroom. Sometimes I think it's growing on me, but right now it's definitely not!

My Mr has been away for a few days and has left me in charge of things here at the flat. It's pretty safe to say that i've not done much apart from look for work, try to learn to crochet and knit. I'm sad at the moment because my Mr and I will have to give up our flat because we can't afford it what with both of us being out of work now. I'll have to go home to my dad's, Mr will be at his and we shall be on different sides of the country. :( Maybe there's a second thing to add to my wishlist...

1. Circular needles

2. Just a pinch of good luck

Oh boy, I've just read through this and I sound really miserable! Actually I think that the hat looks quite good in the picture. Maybe tomorrow I shall wear it out and become a girl that likes the colour lilac. Come on girl, keep smiling!

xoxo

PS oooo perhaps I'll add some little felt flowers to adorn the side of my hat...

The Poppydear headband

In memory of Henry Allingham and Harry Patch, the last surviving British veterans of the First World War. They are, sadly, no longer with us.

We will never forget.

A little Sunday of love

I really don't want to leave this place. My day was spent...

in a little coffee shop...(Note the pretty saucer that came with my Latte.)

designing a new headband, the Poppydear...

doodling...

and eating raspberries.

The rest of my day was spent outside by the harbour, listening to the music of the Sunday festival and knitting. I can't believe how many people stopped to talk about knitting and my headband. It made me smile to hear one man say that it should be called 'organised fidgeting'. In a way, I suppose that's exactly what it is. :D

Will try to finish my new headband this evening and post it for the world to see. My friends keep telling me I should sell them, but I don't know. It's kind of a big step!

Hope you all had a great weekend. Monday tomorrow and who knows what it will bring.

Daisybear headband <3

Won't someone please help me, I'm falling for making things! Whipped up this little darling last evening inbetween scalding myself with hot chocolate and pretending to sing like a star with a hairbrush. Inspired by RVAs special crochet headband and sunnyrising's stunning peacock necklace.
Complete with vintage buttons!
