Quickly, before I go to bed...

Oh dearest Etsy, you please me so

My email inbox has been full of junk and old emails that I never delete, so yesterday I had a de-clutter. Just as I was despairing and honestly believing that soon I would be swallowed up by the vastness of my inbox, I came across the latest 'etsy finds' update that had obviously snuck past my avid checking of "who's rejecting me for a job today". I saw it...and it was good :D

It's full of head bands (which in case you haven't noticed are my current obsession); beautiful, statement necklaces and cute bags. An owl messenger bag has caught my eye and one of these days, when some one sees fit to employ me, I shall have it and it shall have me.

Forever and ever. Amen.

Update: It sold out... :(

Friday, Friday...are you really true?

Yey for Friday, for it brings me sweet things.

It brings the ice cream van to my neighbour hood, with it's plinky plonky music which is such a delight to hear it makes me smile. I'm always sad when it's gone.

These girlies are so cute and are living at sweetmedowsfarm

The little ice cream necklaces from Lusterstudio brought me to the most exciting thing ever!

Gummy bear bracelets! <3

What makes your Friday great?

I'm a Veer girl

My dear old friend, Veer, has come back to me. They supplied me with super desktop backgrounds all through my very first years at university and helped me fall in love with all different kinds of type fonts. I have fallen once again. Sometimes their designs baffle me. It's always a good way to spend an hour; wondering what on earth inspired them to create a particular wallpaper, but in the end they all end up in a special file on my computer where all backgrounds go to wait for their turn to be displayed on my laptop.

Today is the turn of this little baby...

and here a few of my favourites...

Oh how I adore Veer. Wallpaper found here.
Happy digging <3

Drip-drip drop

*sigh*...did you get that? *SIGH*

That's the sound of a lot of people I know having a horrible day, myself included. My horrible day has stemmed from a horrible few months and has now culminated with a headache that rightly predicts a storm. Hmm. I'm going to stay in my pajamas all day tomorrow and more than that...I'm going to stay in bed.

I like staying in bed, particularly when I can have a tea party with Parsley and Piglet. Oh no wait that's what I would have done when I was little. Guess I'm a bit old for that now. But I figure if everyone who's having a bad day goes to bed ,then we can all be grumpy, sad or sleepy together. So if you wake up feeling down just stay exactly where you are and watch the rain roll down the window, because I will be doing the same.

Princess Sophie <3

Designed, drawn and embroidered by my own fair hand. Inspired by Cathy Delanssay's illustrations (see previous post).

Any guesses what my new favourite past-time is?!

Pretty as a princess

Just thought I'd share some pretty pictures by Cathy Delanssay. <3

"I'm there, like an apple that's really a pear"

If only I wasn't on mission to use up all the old thread in my sewing box, then I could buy some new, much brighter ones that look special. I still quite like it though. It'd be super to have three to put in the kitchen.

Oh Monday, the things you bring are so wonderful

If my writing could be made in to pictures this is what it would look like. Photos found here on yyellowbird's photostream.

PS. I would give anything to own that beautiful typewriter.

If it rains, it pours

It's not raining here in the south west right now, but life is getting me down and this is why I'm trying to keep myself busy busy. At least it means I rediscover old hobbies I enjoyed in the past such as an old paint-by-numbers that my Grandma says she'll never do. I'm quite looking forward to it actually, last time I did anything like it was when I used to buy those boards with soft, fuzzy patches...you know the kind you'd colour in with felt tip pens...or was that just me spending my childhood doing strange things? Hmm probably. When I was little I used to sneak out of bed at night so I could watch the rain fall. I still love doing that now and still wish I could go and stand in it. I always thought it would be fun to do that, just be alone, and of course I never did because there was always bound to be someone watching who'd think I was nuts and tell my parents. One day, maybe, I'll finally get to stand in the rain alone.

And on that note I feel suitably inspired to do some writing. Prose or poetry? Decisions, decisions!

You don't need a reason to send a gift

This is my latest knit; a special hat for a very good friend of mine.

She doesn't know that it'll be winging its way through the postal system very shortly. I love surprises, I hope she does too <3

Something I whipped up this afternoon

Strawberry <3

I couldn't sleep last night so I stayed up until 4am resetting the needle on the Singer and finishing up my purse.

It's certainly not perfect, but I love it anyway :)

A morning of cleaning; an afternoon of sewing

Oh boy, can I be a mess sometimes!

The flat was a complete pig sty thanks to the spur of the moment camping, hiking and biking trips we;ve done lately. There was stuff all over the place and I've finally caught up with the washing, so I feel rejuvinated in my tidy environment even if it did take forever to sort out.

Now comes the fun! Or so I thought...

I went to get some fabric and gathered bits and pieces for my sewing session. Top of my list was some cute fabric, which I got in the sale for 6 english pounds! How much of a bargain is that?! (Highly annoyed the keyboard has no pound sign)

Pretty <3

I was going to make a coin purse, but it's taken me all afternoon to get the Singer up and running, and by running I mean doing 5 stitches and then deciding it doesn't want to work... It's something to do with the bobbin shuttle not catching the top thread. It's being a little temperamental to say the least.

Original spool

Original manual

This is how grubby the inside cubby hole was. Yuck!

Hopefully tomorrow will give me a finished purse :)

Gratitude

So i'm up late(not so late in the States, what is it over there? Midday?!), just doing some thinking and wearing my newly crafted hat. I'm a bit skewed today; I got the marks back for my dissertation and although I did well, I didn't get as higher marks as I would have liked. Today has been a little negative and perhaps there really is no need for it. In an attempt to have a positive attitude, here are five things from the past week that I am thankful for.

1. My Mr getting some work.
2. That it rained really hard today, in straight lines.
3. Getting the chance to resubmit my CV for a job I really want.
4. The fishtys surviving while I was away.
5. Being at home again.

That took a while! Sitting here trying to figure out how I can create my own work/job. Thought about selling handmade things, but I think i'll think on that some more before I decide what to do. *sigh* Any who. I guess it's nighty night from me.

Until tomorrow crafties.

Monday Obsessions

1.Mini books

2. I adore Sunnyrising Leather. Allison makes some beautiful jewelry, inspired by nature.

3. This fabric from superbuzzy is so sweet. Can you tell I had an obsession with Russian dolls when I was a child? And yet I've never owned one :(

Tomorrow will be a day of designing and making some mock ups. I've got my mind set on sewing a little purse to keep my change in <3

Keep crafty my little bees.

xoxo

Finishing the hat project

I actually finished a project!

It's a little big at the back and sticks up a bit, but i'm thinking of sewing some handmade flowers on one side to keep it down and make it look extra lovely. I think it looks ok for the first knit I've ever managed to finish. <3

xoxo

Edit: I fixed it with a pretty silver brooch. Can't wait for it to keep me cosy in the winter months.

Friday means inspiration

What a week! I'm exhausted from the sheer boredom, it really is my own fault though I should have packed something crafty to work on. My Mr and I leave for home tonight and there I shall stay until some wonderful person decides I'm worthy of a job. It's kind of annoying being unemployed, especially when you know you shouldn't be. Fingers crossed for a job I really want though. So it's good-night London, good morning Devon.

But today is Friday and that means inspiration (as if you didn't get that from the title). Here's what's inspiring me this week.

Adore the bear/monster/fuzzy thing, it's inspiring my short film AND my fiction.

Just thought this was too good to leave out. Illustration by You Byun. She's just wonderful. <3

Listening to Lisa Hannigan a lot. Love love her voice.

Urban knitting or Knitting graffiti, who ever came up with this idea is a genius <3

I'm extremely excited as I won an envelope of pretty papers from Elise at eliseblaha: enjoy it, can't wait to hear them drop through the letterbox :)

Have a good weekend xoxo

nothing but this

I'm developing an unhealthy love for
a) my old georgian window
b) bricks

There really is nothing else to photograph without being accused of being a peeping-Kat and I didn't have the foresight to bring any crafty things with me, hence the biro and the box project!
Didn't I hear a story about a pregnant woman who craved brick dust??? Is it my brain making that up?
